What did we get from the Apollo missions?
|
As an adviser, Carl Sagan, help brief the first humans ever to leave the earth and go to another body in space on the Apollo missions, expanding the human reach out into the wild frontier with a giant leap on to the moon. One of the gifts the Apollo program gave us was the Skylab. It was the first American space station and established permanent operations in low orbit. Skylab paved the way for future space stations most notably the International Space Station. We also learned vast amounts of information about our planet. One of the more successful programs Landsat, was also a result of the Apollo program, Landsat is one of the first satellite imagery operations in space and is still used to this day.
